The Post - Jennifer Canham

April 1996

When Eddy Marlet and his family opened Eddy's restaurant eight years ago, he didn't realize how many people in the area already knew him. His reputation, enhanced by the 35 years he had owned Senior's at Yonge and St. Clair, preceded him.
"By the fourth Saturday there was a line-up at the door," he recalls.

"People always told me, 'Eddy you should open a restaurant in Thornhill.'"

The Marlets first opened Senior's restaurant in 1961 and while he remembers a lot of hard work, Senior's soon became "one of the dining rooms in Toronto."

The secret to his success?

"People were in love with the place because we were in love with the people," says Marlet. He also credits a lot of hard work and "cooking the old-fashioned way" for keeping customers coming back.
